PROJECT PROFILE

A four star hotel, boasting 389 guest rooms, the owners purchased brand new offering, Voco Gold Coast, in June 2018 and elected to refurbish in July that same year. The brief was to create a contemporary beach-style spin on the hotel.

Resolving the design was the fun bit, with a full refurbishment of 80 guest rooms and a soft refurb of the remaining guest rooms, the lobby and function spaces. The guest rooms are modelled on Surfers Paradise Beach, with hues of blue and yellow reminiscent of sand and sea – while light oak veneers and burnished brass metalwork create a classy, modern feel.

The main challenge the Ornoco team faced in terms of the project was timing. Our challenge was to deliver a finished product by December 2018 – effectively compressing what typically would have been a 40-week process into a short 16 weeks. At Ornoco we work well under pressure and brainstormed time-saving solutions including airfreighting many of the smaller fixtures in.

The final result was a hotel designed to suit its uniquely beautiful location, providing guests with the ultimate Gold Coast experience.
